Dr Juan Aw

Juan is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians and is dual trained in Rheumatology and Clinical Pharmacology. Juan is a general rheumatologist, with a particular interest in inflammatory arthritis, crystal arthritis, soft tissue disorders and musculoskeletal medicine.

A graduate of Monash University, he has trained at Frankston Hospital, The Alfred Hospital and The Austin and Repatriation Hospital. Juan is also a Visiting Medical Officer at Peninsula Health and The Alfred Health, where he is part of the Rheumatology Unit.  He is actively involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors in training.  He is also involved in clinical research and clinical trials.

Juan is passionate about improving and providing rheumatology services to the Mornington Peninsula and the South Eastern regions of Victoria, through close collaboration with general practitioners, surgeons and fellow physicians.

Dr Winston Chang

Dr Chang graduated from Otago University and completed his Rheumatology and General Medicine training in New Zealand. He practiced as a general physician and rheumatologist at National University Health Systems in Singapore before moving to Australia.

He aims to  partner with each patient to provide holistic and individualised care. He is happy to see patients with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous (SLE), gout, ankylosing spondylitis and other rheumatological disorders.

Dr Chang can converse in English, Mandarin and Malay.

Dr Emily Ong

Dr Emily Ong (MBBS (Hons), BEng (Chemical), FRACP) obtained her medical degree at the University of Sydney and was trained in Rheumatology at The Alfred and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. She is currently a staff specialist in Rheumatology at The Alfred and Box Hill hospital.

Dr Ong has interests in several areas of adult Rheumatology, including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, back pain and osteoarthritis. She is interested in women’s health in patients with rheumatic diseases. Emily is fluent in Mandarin and she values an emphatic approach to patient centred care.

Dr Huai Leng (Jessica) Pisanello

Dr Huai Leng (Jessica) Pisaniello (MBBS, FRACP) graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School, receiving the Australian Chinese Medical Association Prize for being the top student in her final year. After completing Basic Physician Training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, she subspecialised in rheumatology, training in multiple hospitals in South Australia. Jessica is currently in her final year of her PhD (University of Adelaide), with a research focus on epidemiology and intensive longitudinal data analysis of musculoskeletal pain and its impact on health outcomes, medication use, and morbidity and mortality risks. Jessica had the opportunity to undertake the early years of her PhD at the University of Manchester, being awarded the Ken Muirden overseas fellowship. She received the Australian Rheumatology Association’s Young Investigator Award in 2020 for her UK-based PhD research work on day-to-day pain variability in rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

Jessica relocated from Adelaide to the Mornington Peninsula in early 2023 Jessica sees the full spectrum of rheumatological conditions and has research interests in long-term outcomes of arthritis. She is currently one of the Australian Adult Living Guidelines panel members developing evidence-based pharmacological management guidelines for inflammatory arthritis. She can converse in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay.

Dr Katherine Dutton

Dr Katherine Dutton is an experienced adult rheumatologist. She treats a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions and has a special interest in inflammatory arthritis, lupus and connective tissue diseases. Dr Dutton completed her undergraduate medical training at Monash University and then completed her specialist rheumatology training in Queensland and the United Kingdom. In addition to her private work, Dr Dutton is regularly involved in the training and assessment of medical students. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Dutton completed her training at Monash Health, The Townsville Hospital and The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Dr Dutton then practiced rheumatology for several years at Chapel Allerton Hospital, a European centre of rheumatology excellence and NHS Trust within the United Kingdom. She gained extensive experience in general rheumatology through her involvement in providing care in the Early Arthritis, Biologics, Connective Tissue Disease, Lupus, Scleroderma, Pre-CTD and Spondyloarthritis Clinics. She was also involved in administering the Giant cell arteritis service and regularly delivered both the soft tissue injection and infusion clinics. Dr Dutton completed a Fellowship at the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine (UK) and gained a Master's of Clinical Research (University of Leeds) for her work in researching a novel biomarker in pre-clinical and established lupus and connective tissue disease. In this study, she followed up individuals at risk of connective tissue disease for 12 months to observe if transformation to established connective tissue disease occured.

Due to her broad clinical experience, Dr Dutton understands the challenges of individuals seeking care from rural, interstate and international backgrounds. Outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her family and maintains hobbies in painting and bushwalking.

Robyn Funston

Robyn joined Peninsula Rheumatology in November, 2016.  She commenced working with our team after 16 years as a research nurse at the Alfred Hospital. In her role at the Alfred, Robyn was responsible for coordinating clinical trials in heart failure; hypertension; heart transplant; and diabetes mellitus.

She has presented at an international conference on successful patient recruitment for research trials.

Robyn commenced her career in clinical research following nursing experience in coronary care, cardiology unit, post operative recovery room and general medicine at major metropolitan hospitals including the Alfred, the Mater in Sydney and the Royal Canberra Hospital.

Robyn has a Coronary Care Certificate.
